Food
The major reason for the modern obesity epidemic nowadays is considered to be the receiving of more calories than our body needs. Now, the United States of America produces 3,800 calories of food per day for each resident. This is 500 calories more compared to 30 years ago and yet at a much lower price per calorie.

The consumption of calorie-dense foods has also increased as we can notice from the growing fast-food chains. This and the increased soft drink consumption also show a higher energy-intake. Food has never been cheaper and more accessible than now. Fastfood chains and sedated lifestyle, entirely dependent on automobiles have largely contributed to the high percentage of people suffering from obesity.
There are literally millions of people out there, who struggle daily to achieve the waistline of their dreams. There is also a large variety of overweight treatments. But whatever the treatment, unless we change our eating habits, we would never achieve the much desired healthy body.
- Eating Habits - Revised

To have healthy eating habits be sure to follow the next several pieces of advice: 1) Separate your food into three meals a day. It is important that you have two or three PLANNED snacks every day. 2) Prolong your meals as much as possible. The faster you eat the more calories you receive without satisfying your hunger. Chew each bit slowly and do not put another in your mouth until you have swallowed the previous one. 3) Create a specific place where to take your meals either at home or in your office. Avoid the habit of snacking at your desk or in front of the TV. Eat only in the place you have chosen to have a meal. Thus you will avoid eating all day long instead of receiving only one to three dishes per day. 4) When eating, do not do anything else - do not read, talk on the phone, watch TV, or work. Keep in mind the food you take while enjoying a pleasant conversation with your family or friends. 5) The kitchen is the only place you should keep food. Take away the cookies from your counters and do not store items in "see-through" packs. 6) When shopping, avoid buying junk food. Neither of your family, nor you need it. 7) Separate the food in individual plates for each family member. Thus you can serve yourself a smaller portion. 8) Create the habit of leaving food on your plate regardless of what your parents have taught you. This way it would be easier for you to stop eating when having satisfied your hunger.
There are also certain substituting activities which will help you not eat between meals. If you get hungry before dinner time, try one of the following: take a walk or a long bath; call someone or get out of the house. It is also useful if you have a hobby as cross-stitching, floral arranging, wood working or gardening for example.
