The Warrior Diet
The Warrior Diet turns most of the conventional weight loss wisdom on its head, and is based on the eating habits of the armies of the Greek and Roman empires, by recommending a system whereby the dieter under-eats during the day and over-eats at night.
During the day, the dieter should only eat fruit, vegetables, soups and small amounts of food which is low in protein. By under-eating during the day the body's “Sympathetic Nervous System” which is responsible for competitiveness, energy use, and alertness and it is during this time that the body has to break down fat deposits to use as energy.
At night the dieter is free to over-eat and have the main meal of the day, which can be from all the food groups. It is during the over-eating phase that the “Para-sympathetic Nervous System” is activated, which is responsible for relaxation and recuperation and restores depleted energy. There are though some rules which govern the over-eating phase:
- Eat in a specific order, salad, vegetables and proteins first and last of all carbohydrates.
- Have as many colours, tastes, textures and aromas in your meal as possible.
- When you are thirstier than you are hungry, stop eating.

-
This weight loss program is relatively simple at first sight, it does however also include an exercise program and several rules that need to be followed in order to succeed:
- Under during the day
- Have your main meal at night
- Ensure you get essential nutrients
- Vary the types of food you eat
- Only eat a little meat for a few days
- Rotate days of high carb, fat and protein
- Eat organic and natural foods
- Never eat just carbohydrates
- Avoid bad food combinations
- Exercise regularly during the day
