- Recipe for cabbage soup
3 large onions
1 large green pepper
1 head of celery
Ѕ dark green cabbage
1 tin chopped tomatoes
1 packet onion soup mix
3 vegetable stock cubes
- Dice vegetables into small cubes
- Place in a saucepan with rest of ingredients »Cover with water, season and simmer until vegetables are soft
- Blend if preferred.
7 days of the Cabbage Soup Diet
Eating Rules Day 1 Eat fruit only and take as much soup as you want. Drink tea with no sugar, black coffee, cranberry juice and water Day 2 Eat plenty of vegetables, raw and cooked, but avoid peas, sweet-corn and dry beans. For dinner have a large baked potato with butter. Take as much soup as you want but have no fruit. Day 3 Eat as much fruit and vegetables as you wish, but no baked potato. Take as much soup as you want. Day 4 Eat up to 8 bananas, and drink as much skimmed milk as you like. Take as much soup as you want Day 5 Have up to 20oz of beef, chicken or fish and 6 fresh tomatoes. Drink 6-8 glasses of water and take soup at least once. Day 6 Eat 2-3 beef steaks with salad or fresh vegetables, no baked potato. Take the soup at least once Day 7 Eat brown rice, fresh vegetables and unsweetened fruit juice as much as you like. Take the soup at least once.

The Cabbage Soup Diet
The Cabbage Soup Diet is the original fad diet, and is not suitable for long-term weight loss but rather is a good kick-start for losing weight.
The diet lasts for 7 days during which you must follow the eating regulations to the letter. One of the benefits of this diet is that you will lose weight fast, even though most of the weight loss is water. The soup however is rather bland, and some people have reported feeling weak, light-headed and unable to concentrate.

Firstly not starving yourself, you can eat as much of the soup as you wish, and as much of the foods you are permitted to eat as well.
Every day you need to drink 4 glasses of water, and preferably complement the diet with a multivitamin tablet.
The key to the diet is not starving yourself, as you are more likely to give up or cheat. But remember this is not a long-term weight loss program. Once the 7 days on the diet are over, you should resume your normal eating regime for at least 2 weeks before doing it again.
Whilst on the Cabbage Soup Diet you should expect to lose around 10lb in the 7 days of the diet.
